Western Redcedar Skin Properties:
Western Red Cedar is a sacred plant used extensively by native people's of the Pacific Northwest. Traditionally, cedar’s medicine was used to repel insects, moulds, fungi, bacteria, and viruses. Cedar is anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and a natural astringent that can disinfect wounds and soothe inflamed skin.
It may be added to shampoos (50/50) to treat scalp itch and dandruff and add lustre to damaged hair. Use full strength to detangle hair and treat dandruff. You can also spray the hydrosol directly on your pet's fur to help with dander and deter fleas.
At full strength, apply it to dermatitis, allergic rashes, cold sores, inflamed acne, and other skin conditions.
You can use hydrosols anytime; they make great refreshers throughout the day. They absorb easily into the skin, making them great to apply before and after moisturizing.
